iCare HOME Tonometry Q & A

What is iCare Home?

iCare HOME is a handheld, battery-operated device called a tonometer that measures the intraocular pressure, or IOP, of your eye. This device is portable and designed for self-use at home or on the go.

iCare HOME is easy to use - just put a probe into the device, look for a green circle and push a button. The device will automatically recognize which eye you are measuring and record the day and time you used the device. You don't need to write anything down. The only thing you need to do is use the Icare HOME according to your doctor's prescription.

What is IOP?

IOP, or intraocular pressure, is a term used to indicate how much fluid pressure you have inside your eye. At times, eyes can produce too much fluid or not drain the fluid properly. For this reason, doctors routinely measure IOP. The frequency at which these measurements are performed is determined by many factors and isn't the same for everyone.

Why at Home?

Everyone's IOP can vary throughout the day and night. Icare HOME offers a quick and easy way to monitor this. By taking multiple readings at home, while conducting your normal activities, you will provide your doctor with valuable clinical information about your eye health.

When you return the Icare HOME device, your doctor will review all the measurements and evaluate IOP levels and fluctuations to help safeguard the health of your eyes.
